50 Sport Launches ‘Delivering Dreams’ with DHL Express and Man Utd
50 Sport is proud to launch “Delivering Dreams”, a campaign in partnership with DHL Express and Manchester United that blends sport, storytelling and spectacle, bringing a professional-grade, all-weather football pitch to one of the world’s most geographically isolated football-loving communities in Mae Suek, Thailand.
More than an infrastructure project, the campaign was designed as a living narrative, taking the mythology of the ‘Theatre of Dreams’ and reimagining it for a community that had only ever experienced it through screens.
From initial insight through to on-the-ground execution, 50 Sport led the end-to-end creative and production process - identifying a powerful human truth, shaping a story-driven platform and delivering it in one of Southeast Asia’s most challenging terrains.
The result is a world-class 9v9 football facility, built to FIFA-grade standards, providing year-round access to sport for over 1,000 children across 11 villages - a transformative step for a region where extreme weather and mountainous geography have long limited opportunities to play.
The campaign unfolds as a cinematic journey - from isolation to inspiration - capturing the build, the anticipation, and the emotional payoff as the community’s dream becomes reality.
That story reached its climax when Manchester United legend Patrice Evra arrived to officially open the pitch, leading its first training session with local children, while club captain Bruno Fernandes connected with fans through a personalised video message and donated club jerseys.
Sarah Essoof, Head of Production said:
“From day one, we approached this like telling a great sports story - full of scale, jeopardy and emotion. The logistics were extreme, but that only added to the authenticity of what we were capturing. Every challenge, from transporting materials across hundreds of miles to building in unpredictable conditions, became part of the narrative. Seeing it all come together in that final moment made it incredibly powerful.”
Located more than four hours from Chiang Mai and previously reliant on distant, often unusable pitches, Mae Suek is home to a deeply passionate fanbase, with over 85% of residents supporting Manchester United. Despite this, access to safe and consistent playing facilities has historically been limited.
“A story that will live on in the community for years to come.”
Mark Norcutt, Creative Director added:
“We approached this as sports entertainment, not just a build. The ‘Theatre of Dreams’ isn’t just a stadium, it’s a story that fans everywhere believe in. Our role was to take that story and make it real, in a place that had only ever been imagined. We didn’t just bring a pitch; we brought the feeling of stepping onto one.”
The project required extensive logistical planning and production oversight, including land preparation, transportation of materials across 500 miles, and collaboration with local communities, including members of the Hmong Tribal group who blessed the pitch upon completion.
Theo Larmer-Cottle, Group Account Director said:
“This campaign shows what’s possible when creativity, storytelling and partnership align. Together with DHL Express and Manchester United, we’ve taken a powerful idea and turned it into something tangible - a story that will live on in the community for years to come.”
The pitch, located on Jericho Farm, will now serve as a hub for daily training, regional tournaments, and potential pathways into professional football development programmes.
The “Delivering Dreams” campaign demonstrates how sport’s greatest power lies not just in performance, but in storytelling, using football to turn distant fandom into lived experience, and bringing the spirit of the ‘Theatre of Dreams’ to life where it’s needed most.
